Social Thinking has helped over 2.5 million educators,
clinicians, and families around the world for more
than 25 years
Social, emotional, and academic learning is a lifelong journey. At some point, we all struggle in social
situations, and engaging in a social problem-solving and feeling-based process can be difficult at
times for everyone in the social world—at home, at school, at work, and within the community.
But, understanding and considering our own and others’ thoughts and feelings is essential for
understanding most academic subjects. And when we work in groups (which we will throughout our
lives), we need to be able to collaborate effectively with others, which requires taking and getting
different perspectives, sharing ideas, and resolving conflicts. This is social thinking (thinking socially),
and this critical learning is expected to develop and evolve throughout our lives as we work toward our
own and collective goals.
That’s why the Social Thinking® Methodology offers a diverse array of research-informed resources,
training, curricula, practical strategies, and visual tools for neurodivergent and neurotypical social
learners with solid to strong expressive and receptive language skills and all developmental ages,
from 4–80.
Teachers, speech-language pathologists, counselors, caregivers, and therapists just like you have used
our lessons, and strategies for more than 25 years. The Social Thinking Methodology provides evidence-
based strategies to help people develop their social competencies, flexible thinking, and social problem
solving to improve: conversation & social connection, executive functioning, friendship & relationship
development, perspective taking, self-regulation, and Social Thinking Vocabulary. Our conceptual
and teaching frameworks show educators, caregivers, therapists, children, students, and clients how
the social world operates and why through concrete, specific vocabulary, and explicit step-by-step
instruction. And it provides developmentally based strategies and engaging activities to support social
learners ages four through mature adulthood in moving toward improvement in their own social goals.
Explore our broad range of products, online courses, conferences, and free resources for teaching
practical concepts, vocabulary, and strategies to help guide social learners in some of the most
significant learning of their lives.

Social Thinking Products for All Ages
The Zones of Regulation Series—helping
students worldwide for over 15 years!
The Zones of Regulation framework, created by Leah Kupyers, is an empowering instructional tool
to build safe, supportive environments that foster learning and well-being for all. Learners benefit
from increased self-awareness and social emotional skills and learn a common language for
communication, problem solving, and emotional understanding.
The Zones of Regulation offers a unique and systematic approach to help unpack some of the
complexity of regulation and build the capacity to recognize when we’re in different physiological
and emotional states, as well as pair tools that support regulation of that state. We call these states
“The Zones,” with each of the Zones represented by a distinct color. We categorize all the different
ways we feel—including our feelings, energy levels, and states of alertness—into four colored
zones. Using the four Zones, we can establish an easy language with visual supports and structure
that not only help build competencies to self-regulate but also co-regulate with others.
The Blue Zone describes low states of alertness and down feelings, such as when we feel
sad, tired, hurt, sick, lonely, or bored.
The Green Zone describes a calm state of alertness. We might be feeling happy, focused,
content, peaceful, calm, or relaxed when in the Green Zone.
The Yellow Zone describes when our energy is higher and emotions get a little stronger,
and we might need to take action to regulate. We might be experiencing stress, frustration,
anxiety, excitement, silliness, the wiggles, or nervousness when in the Yellow Zone.
The Red Zone describes extremely high energy and intense feelings. We might be feeling
elated, overjoyed, euphoric, angry, panicked, devastated, terrified, or out of control when in
the Red Zone.

Understanding and Managing Feelings & Emotions
(two-storybook set)
Leah Kuypers, Elizabeth Sautter
Come along with Gabriel, Suhana, Julian, and Vivian as they begin their journey on The Road to
Regulation and discover tools and strategies for regulation and emotional control at the amazing
Regulation Station.
These two multiple award-winning storybooks provide engaging social scenarios and strategies
to help children at developmental ages 5-11 explore how lessons from The Zones of Regulation
framework and curriculum can be used at school and at home. Kids love stories and will identify
with the characters and the everyday situations as they learn about their feelings and emotions
and how their bodies help show and tell them what they are feeling. Readers will also learn
along with the characters that they can manage and control how they feel by using tools—such
as movement, activities, and art—to relax, focus, and stay calm so they can meet their goals and
needs of the day.
The first storybook, The Road to Regulation, describes and explains four different emotional
zones and how we feel in each of them. Through an imaginary adventure to “The Regulation
Station,” the second storybook introduces the use of “tools” (strategies) to help students identify
ways they can manage their different feelings at school and home.

Social Situation Shorts: 5 Key Social Thinking Vocabulary Concepts in Action
Social Thinking Online Video for Students
Social Situation Shorts is a new digital teaching tool to engage elementary students (5-9+ years) in exploring five key Social Thinking
Vocabulary concepts. Play, pause, discuss, and reflect on the Social Thinking Vocabulary concepts of Thoughts and Feelings, The Group
Plan, Thinking with Your Eyes, Body in the Group, and Smart Guess through the child-friendly videos and companion thinksheets.
Your students or clients will get to be social observers in a variety of situations they may encounter beyond the screen, like classrooms,
playgrounds, home, and in the community. In each short, viewers are introduced to a concept, then journey into different social
scenarios to see that concept in action. Each short has built-in moments to pause the action and discuss or explore the concept. Visual
supports (e.g., thought bubbles and emojis) appear throughout the scenarios to make abstract ideas more concrete. Meet Science Guy
Brad, a fun-loving social scientist, who appears in some of the shorts to give informative, engaging, and sometimes wacky tutorials.
Thinksheets for each of the five shorts are included to extend the learning of each video into other modalities (writing, drawing, observ-
ing, discussing, etc.). There are two types of thinksheets for a total of 10 downloadable visual templates. The first is a single page think-
sheet designed for younger students who need more support thinking to understand the concept. The second thinksheet is for older
students or when teaching more in depth about the concepts introduced in the shorts. Both types of thinksheets provide a template for
mini lessons and discussions—helping your students reflect, relate, and connect the concepts to their own experiences.
Note: This video is not eligible for continuing education credit. (Total video length: 45:50 minutes)

Let’s Solve It! Step-by-Step Social Problem Solving
with Kids, 3-book Teaching Set
Michelle Garcia Winner, Pamela Crooke
In this set, we give educators, therapists, parents, and caregivers a structured,
visual, step-by-step way to teach kids about social problem solving through illus-
trated stories and problem-solving templates. These illustrated stories help kids
explore situations through multiple perspectives, enhance understanding of basic
concepts, encourage engagement, and build critical thinking skills.
Evan, Ellie, Jesse, and Molly, from our We Thinkers! early learner series, takes turns
appearing in 20 illustrated story pairs that provide children with explicit visual
examples of how we all impact one another with what we do and say as portrayed
by the social situations that play out in each story.
The Power of Thought on Feelings
Jack Pransky, Amy Kahofer
This wonderfully illustrated children’s book not only introduces young readers to the concept of
thought but also to the amazing power of their own thoughts and feelings. Through a rhyming
poem, the authors communicate a simple yet profound message: our thoughts create our feel-
ings and behavior, and when our minds are calm, we have access to mindful, healthy feelings and
responses. A perfect read-aloud for parents and an important book for all early primary school
teachers to share in their mainstream classes. A powerful metacognitive teaching tool!
$24.99 | Ages 7–10 | Published: 2021
Item #: 978-1-936943-82-1
Each story pair has two possible pathways or outcomes. In the Let’s Solve It! version of the story, a character’s choices result in
problems or dilemmas. In the We Solved It! version of the story, the same character’s choices help to solve, or avoid, a problem.
These illustrated examples of problem solving are an excellent way to introduce structured problem solving to young children to
use in everyday situations and across settings.
